due date
I didn't have this due date experience with Eliana. She was early. The actual day she was due never mattered because it never arrived. This time it's different.
We're getting used to passing the time around the house. A new favorite activity of Eliana's involves dressing up and performing on various "stages." She then watches the videos of herself on my camera with absolute satisfaction.
Another fun pass-the-time-til-baby-comes activity is baking. I am not much of a baker. My man doesn't like sweets and so I end up with way too much good stuff for one mama and one tyke. But right now it feels oh so right. So after yesterday's bread, today we tried cake. Actually two varieties. Eliana wanted yellow cake with chocolate chips. My favorite is lemon. So we split the batter and made our own batches. So fun. So not the kind of thing I usually seem to have time for. The simple things seem to be shining through.
Then there's the walking. Thank goodness for this little 'hood of mine. Laps and laps around the park. Up Jumbo to see the wildflowers. The weather is wild this week. I went from needing sunscreen to being snowed on to being hailed on to being hot again in an hour long adventure on the mountain. Eliana is turning into an awesome hiker and loves to "get her exercise with her family." As opposed, I guess, to just taking herself to the gym. Love her.
So we'll walk and bake and read and rest. Dress up and sing and dance. Shower our girl with unabashed amor in the last days of her being the only little one in the house. Until her beautiful, glow-y world gets rocked and we all, ultimately, find even more love to share.
