missoula's red tent

my girlfriend melissa who lives in san francisco put it right when she said on the phone the other day, "you guys in missoula have your own red tent thang going on." indeed we do. something funky was going on in fall of 06 around these parts. it was hunting season. perhaps the gender roles were more distinctly defined or, like bri thinks, it was something in the water. but lots of folks got busy making babies. after a long winter, spring and summer of pre-natal yoga, water aerobics, lunches, baby clothes swaps, birth classes and new and lovely friendships all around, the babies have finally started arriving. elie has already met four new friends who are within a few weeks of her age. how lovely it is to sit around with your girlfriends and breastfeed and listen to your little ones make their sweet little pigeon noises. or hike with the babies in their slings and try to get those pre-baby bellies back together. yesterday i hiked the "L" with my friend casey, her little girl moana (one week older than elie) and my little lady (and of course her sister, lucy). we had the chance to snap some photos of them upon our return. how sweet it is!
